Dr. Claire Tobin
(BA Hons, MSc, DClinPsy)
I currently have availability at 10 Windsor Walk, SE5 8BB.
I am a Clinical Psychologist working at King's College London and in private practice. For several years I have dedicated my clinical work to helping people who have experienced adverse early experiences; this means that they may not have had their basic emotional needs met in childhood, for various reasons. I aim to work together with you to develop a fuller understanding of the development of your difficulties and what might help address them.
Therapies
I have completed post-qualification training in a number of therapeutic models including Mentalisation-based Treatment (MBT), Schema-focused Therapy (ST) and EMDR. I am an accredited practitioner of MBT with the British Psychoanalytic Council. I am also registered with the HCPC.
Qualifications/Career Progression
Following completion of my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Kings College London, I have worked in a number of forensic, community-based, and National & Specialist adult mental health NHS services for over 10 years. Most recently I have worked with individuals who have complex trauma and dissociative disorders (see more about my NHS work here).
I now work part-time as a Clinical Tutor on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience (IoPPN). I also enjoy the ability to respond to patients more flexibly through my private practice. I provide effective psychological treatments, and also supervise other clinicians in delivering this work. I have published a number of scientific and academic articles.
