Dr. Kate Robinson
(BSc Hons, DClinPsy, AFBPsS)
I am a highly specialised clinical psychologist with over 10 years’ experience of working therapeutically in the NHS and in private practice. I draw upon best practice guidelines to create an individually tailored conceptualisation and treatment plan for you, according to the difficulties with which you are struggling and the changes you wish to make. I work with adults and adolescents (16+ years) with longstanding emotional and psychological difficulties, as well as those struggling with an acute crisis or period of stress.
Therapies
I am an accredited Eye-Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner and incorporate this approach where possible to help people free themselves from the impact of past events and live more fulfilled lives in the present. I am also trained in and draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Individual & Group Schema Therapy (ST), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).
Qualifications/Career Progression
After completing my undergraduate degree in psychology at Durham University, I worked at the Woodbourne Priory Hospital’s eating disorder unit in Birmingham before completing my postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Salomons, Canterbury Christ Church University. After this I worked in a busy Community Mental Health Team in South London for 10years, the last 2 years of which I was the joint lead for psychological therapies for the team with Dr Katja Windheim. During this time I offered specialist interventions for people struggling with anxiety, depression, personality difficulties and trauma. I also supervise and train other psychologists. For the last few years I have additionally been seeing people privately in Central London & have recently established My Therapy Assistant, which assists people in understanding the different types of therapy, finding a therapist who might be a good fit for them and then software tools to engage with the therapy.
